Barbarian Overlords, with its mixture of rock/blues artistry and break-your-jaw fury, is a melodic assault on modern music. Guitarist Joe Spadaro and drummer Brandon Kachel began the journey – one looking like he just stepped out of a time machine, the other out of a wrestling ring. When they cast their net to find a lead singer, it fortunately ensnared Brent A. Nuffer. GK Via was willing to trade in his guitar for a bass to become the fourth member, and in February 2011 the lineup was etched upon a tablet of rock.

After paying their dues and sharpening their chops touring Southern California, Barbarian Overlords released their self-title album on December 3, 2011. Several months later, they unleashed their first music video, for the track "In a Rush to Meet the Queen." Both projects were self-funded, showing the group is savvy as well as talented.

Barbarian Overlords continues to claw its way up the food chain, playing some of the most famous venues in Los Angeles. Their sound is powerful and pleasing, as Spadaro displays masterful guitar work that complement the group's hard-hitting rhythm section. Meanwhile, Nuffer's vocals evoke both soulfulness and playfulness. Listeners are never sure which genre the band will dip its toes into next. One thing is for sure: Barbarian Overlords are providing the kind of pure rock and roll that has been sorely missing in the world.
